On the other side of the house seats the conservatives who argues that protecting the nation requires the sacrifice of our rights to some extent. The price of living in safety and ultimately in freedom, they say, is allowing the authority to violate our liberty whenever necessary. As Spock says in the Wrath of Khan “The needs of the many outweigh the needs of a few”.

          On the face of it, each side seems to boast strengths and weaknesses. Treasured is the safety and security of an individual, but doing so at the expense of liberty sounds awful.
