DR. MUHAMMED ABDUL KHALID

Dr. Muhammed Abdul Khalid is the founder and chief economist of DM Analytics. He co-authored the UNICEF Urban Child Poverty Report published recently in February 2018, a detailed study of urban child poverty in low cost flats in Kuala Lumpur. Previously, he was the Director of Research at Khazanah Research Institute; Head of Economics at the Securities Commission Malaysia. More recently, he was appointed as the Chief Secretariat of the Council of Eminent Persons. Dr. Muhammed obtained his PhD from the Institute d’etudes Politiques de Paris, France where he was the Teaching Assistant in International Macroeconomics. He holds a Master’s degree in Public Affairs from the same institution.

 

His research interest includes issues related to economic inequality and socio-economic development. In 2013, Dr. Muhammed co-authored the inaugural United Nations

Development Program (UNDP) Malaysia Human Development Report – Designing an Inclusive Future. Predicting 2050, Dr. Muhammed examines Malaysia’s future demographic and the readiness of our economy to accommodate an ageing society.
